MADA Gallery Models

Since Monash University does not provide a specification sheet for the MADA Gallery, I photographed the space (Figures 1 and 2) and recorded its approximate dimensions: 8.4 meters wide, 14 meters long, and 3 meters high. Using these measurements, I constructed two scaled models: a 1:200 cardboard model (Figure 3) and a 1:100 plywood model (Figure 4). These models are being used to prototype and test concepts for my research project and to support the development of my practice throughout my candidature. I am currently designing the principal artwork for my final Milestone presentation and the public exhibition of works (Figure 5), which I plan to display in the MADA Gallery. Given the scale of the work (70 panels, each measuring 50 by 200 centimetres), the models have already proven highly beneficial for troubleshooting the installation design. I estimate that the project will require approximately three years to complete, encompassing the initial design concept, prototyping, adjustments, and production of the creative outcome.
