HARMONY
Gelatin silver print (polyptych)
120cm x 200cm overall
Artist Statement: HARMONY invites observers to consider how meaning emerges from uncertainty. By deconstructing and reconstructing the bridge as a metaphor for communication and transition, the artwork maintains symmetry and significance through the balanced interplay of chiaroscuro (light/dark) and the spatial dynamics of installation. Drawing from the Hegelian concept of ‘Wesen’ (essence or substance), which posits ‘Being’ as arising from the synthesis of light and darkness, the work reflects the fundamental nature of existence. Through this evolving relationship, the handcrafted piece—created in the darkroom and realised in light—investigates the complexities of human experience, suggesting that knowledge and consciousness arise through the dynamic tension between chaos and harmony in an ever-evolving spiral of light and dark.
Installation requirements: The work is a 3x5 grid composed of 15 individual panels designed to be wall-mounted at each corner using small artisan nails supplied by the artist. Each panel is numbered on the verso to ensure ease of installation. I have also prepared an installation guide to indicate the specific arrangement of each panel (see attached PDF). To maintain its structural integrity, each corner is reinforced on the reverse with archival white linen tape, preventing tearing during installation or de-installation while remaining completely invisible from the front. Finally, I am fully equipped with an installation kit (including a laser level) and am available to undertake or assist with the installation if shortlisted.
